Here’s a round-up of what we like and what we don’t in the games world... starting off with a BIG surprise!
Quantum of Solace: Not just a movie tie-in but also a successor of sorts to arguably the greatest game of all time. Whilst this may not be Goldeye on the N64, it is certainly no embarrassment and infact holds its own against many recent FPS games. With clever level design and a superb mid-game twist (this is the COMPLETE Daniel Craig as Bond game) QOS is close to essential for any fan of the franchise. ****
Fifa 09: the old adage that serious gamers play Pro Evo and everyone else makes do with Fifa has finally been put to bed. More difficult than previous incarnations it maybe, but in return it is infinitely more rewarding. Of course the ‘official’ names and players add something to the mix, but an improved game engine and clever menus make this fun from the start. ****
Call of Duty - World at War:
Another fantastic pre-Christmas big hitter. The franchise just got better and in multiplayer this is the one to go for. Non-stop action combined with the requirement for quick wits and nerve-shredding tension means your online connection will be severely tested. Not for novices but with those who have time invest... this is a wise choice. *****
All games tested on the Xbox 360 format.
