TUESDAY 13th OCTOBER 2009 - BHM SHOWCASE
The Street Children of Kinshasa

Film info: An unflinching look at the plight of the young Congolese children forced to live on the streets of Kinshasa. The film is divided into two parts, with the first one featuring a short history of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The second part of the documentary focuses on the daily lives of street children: the lack of shelter or food, the drug use and the prostitution. The film also explains how they end up in such a dire situation, with extreme poverty being the main reason. This is a powerful documentary that will hopefully create public awareness on a crisis ignored by the media.
Time: 40mins
Release: 2007 – European Premiere
Director: Gilbert Mulamba
Country: DR Congo
