Film info: Jerry Downing is an aspiring writer trying to get his first novel, “The Swordsman of Trelawny”, published. While waiting for his big break, Jerry spends his days watching TV in his room. Being unemployed has made him a loner and his aloof attitude is seen as rude by his flatmates. Only Kerry seems to like him but she soon turns into an enemy. Following the advice of Julia, another roommate, Jerry joins a temporary agency and finds a job in a publishing house. His line manager, Karen, takes him under her wing and soon Jerry’s life begins to change.
