The architect of Tanzania’s independence in 1961, and later that of the island of Dar-es-Salaam, Nyerere was a leader of pan-African vision. This insightful documentary traces his beginnings in rural northern Tanganyika, to his student years at Edinburgh University that led to his political career. Nyerere’s legacy as a wise politician and profound thinker is captured through historical footage and testimonies from a wide range of publishers, journalists, academics and politicians.
